Y’all, this week has been crazy busy, every day!! Is it time for school to start back yet? No? Oh, okay. These kids are crazy, and summertime makes them crazier. I’m pretty positive my toddler would try to survive solely on popsicles if I would let her. When I ordered my groceries last week, I was looking for hamburger buns to have burgers one night this week, and I found these buns and they were AMAZING! They’re Bavarian Pretzel Buns and they were seriously a GREAT addition to these burgers! My family loves them and they don’t take long at all to prepare. If you’ve ever been to one of those modern style burger places, they almost always have a pretzel bun, and we always really like them! This burger is probably my favorite one I make at home, it tastes like you went to one of those amazing burger places, but you didn’t have to get out of your house with a toddler! If you’re a parent, you know exactly what I’m talking about, when you find these recipes that taste like restaurant quality and you don’t have to take a toddler anywhere, it’s the best part of your week. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we did!
Best Weeknight Burgers
Ingredients:
6 pre-made hamburger patties
6 Bavarian Pretzel Buns
2 small to medium size red onions
2 tsp coarse sea salt
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 tsp garlic and onion powder
1 tsp black pepper
6 tbsp salted butter
Instructions:
Peel and thinly slice onions
Place 2 tbsp of butter in a sauté pan and put the pan on medium heat
Once the butter is melted, add the onions and stir them frequently until they’re translucent
Once the onions are cooked down, add the balsamic vinegar and cook until the liquid is mostly absorbed still stirring frequently
Once the onions are finished remove them from the pan and put them to the side
Add 3 tbsp of butter and melt it down
Turning the heat up to medium-high heat, add the burger patties to the pan being careful not to over crowd the pan
Sprinkle each of the seasonings over the burger patties and let them cook down some (about 4 minutes)
Once the burgers have cooked on medium-high heat for about 4 minutes flip them over and season the other side, letting that side cook for about 3-4 minutes (the last minute or so is when to top them with cheese if you want, we like pepper jack)
While the burgers finish cooking, slice the buns in half and spread them with the remaining butter and place them in a 350°f oven for 6 minutes
Once everything is finished cooking, it’s time to build your burgers! We just did mayo, ketchup and the onions but you can put whatever you want on them!
